I Please God

2 Corinthians 2:15 NIV

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

Do you ever think that you please God? You do. You, my beautiful friend, were designed with a purpose. Something that only you can do. Just like your fingerprints and your DNA is unique to you, your purpose was designed specifically for you by your Creator. One of my purposes is to help bring to light the beautiful intricacies in the Word of God so you can understand how loved you are by your Heavenly Father.

When we step into our purpose, we feel our Heavenly Father’s pleasure.

“I believe that God made me for a purpose. But He also made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure.” - Eric Liddell

What are you we created for? What were you designed to do? What is your purpose?

That can be a hard one to answer, but a necessary one to explore.

A great way to discover your purpose is to ask yourself questions. As my favorite author, Andy Andrews says, “Great questions produce great answers.”

Take some time to explore these questions:

  • What did you most love to do at 5 years old? Be specific. What did you love about it?

  • What did you most love to do at 12 years old? What did you love about it?

  • What do you most love to do now? This is something you can do for long stretches of time without getting bored. It doesn’t feel like work.

  • What do you do or have done that produces the highest ratio of abundance and satisfaction? This is that thing that makes your heart feel full.

As you dig into these questions, you’ll begin to discover what you were created to do.

Don’t be discouraged if you struggle through the answers. Take a break and come back to them if you need to.

Keep in mind this doesn’t mean if you’re not “doing” your purpose, your Heavenly Father isn’t pleased with you or loves you. He doesn’t love us more if we’re doing more. His love for us is unconditional. We’re human beings – not human doings. What this does mean is that He enjoys seeing us getting to be fully us.

Remember, as you walk in your purpose, you’ll feel your Heavenly Father’s pleasure.

For Reflection:

Attempt to fill in the blank of Liddell’s quote for yourself:

When I __________, I feel God’s pleasure.

This excerpt was taken from Mirror Moments, a 3 month devotional I had the pleasure of co-writing with my friends Sharon Fletcher, from God’s Best and Donna McDaniel. If you enjoyed this post, you can get your own copy of Mirror Moments by clicking here.
