Do you ever struggle with feeling like you’re not good enough? Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or beaten down?
Do you desire to make an impact with your life yet feel like you’re stuck going nowhere? Is fear holding you back?
We were watching Alice in Wonderland recently. The Tim Burton version. The entire movie, Alice keeps saying she can’t fight the Jabberwocky; she can’t slay the beast.
After remembering WHO she is and having been in Wonderland before, Alice suits up to fight the Jabberwocky.
She is still scared and unsure of herself but remembers a practice her father taught her:
Believe six impossible things before breakfast.
She speaks five impossible beliefs one-by-one, and number six is, “I CAN slay the Jabberwocky.” Instantly infused with confidence, her entire demeanor changes as she runs towards the beast. She slays the Jabberwocky!
Our thoughts are powerful!
We Think > We Feel > We Act > We Become
Like Alice, we must develop deliberate, purpose-driven thinking.
Alice’s thoughts of insecurity and fear showed in her words and actions. When she changed her thoughts, it changed her beliefs, and her words and actions followed.
Because Alice changed her thoughts, she slew the Jabberwocky.
What are you thinking about?
I’m not good enough.
I’m stressed.
I’m anxious about…
I’m so busy
I’m so tired
I can’t do…
I’m so…fill in the blank
We can not hold a negative thought and a positive thought at the same time. What we’re thinking about will become what we believe. What we believe will show up in your words and actions.
Our thoughts are what keep us from slaying our “beasts.”
What if you thought, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” instead of “I can’t”?
What if you thought, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” instead of “I’m not enough”?
What if you thought, “The righteous are as bold as a lion” instead of “I’m too scared”?
When you change your thinking to line up with what your Heavenly Father says about you, you get your imagination to work for you instead of against you!
You begin to feel empowered.
You believe you can do it.
You act out of our Father’s strength instead of our own.
You become more of who you’ve been called to be.
You will make an impact on this world.
Change your thoughts to change your future.
Until next time, Live Fearlessly Free.
Discussion
What’s what untrue thought you’ve been thinking and what Christ empowering thought can you think instead?
For me, a lot of times I get hung up on thinking I don’t have the right personality to do what I feel called to do. I am replacing that with thought with, “I have the exact right personality to do what God’s called me to do because I’m made in His image.”
