What do you do when pursuing your purpose and the going gets tough?
Do you crawl into the corner in the fetal position?
Do you get frantic or panic?
Do you lash out in stress or anger?
We're closing out this five-part series on Quick Pick Me Ups When the Going Gets Tough by discovering what we need when we're in the middle of these challenging moments.
Today is for you if…
If you're ready to get unstuck.
If you need help moving forward and keep moving forward.
If maybe you lost hope in pursuing your dreams, and it's only thirteen days into January.
I ran into challenges as I was on my journey to fulfilling my God-given purpose. I didn't know what to do, felt alone, had low self-esteem, and had a multiple-year depression. But the big one was when I tried to move out of my comfort zone; I would faint.
You need to know what you need so you're ready when the challenges come and keep moving forward toward pursuing your God-given purpose.
Here are three questions to help you think through what you need when the tough times come your way:
1. What do you need to get unstuck?
I needed someone to hold space for me and believe in me until I could believe in myself.
Father brought me Lethia Owens and the Women of Audacious Faith and gave me a beautiful, safe environment where my sisters saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself yet.
They held that space for me until I could believe in myself and step further into my calling.
I need to know Father believed in me.
For so long, I thought He was disappointed with me because I wasn't as successful as my brothers and was stuck in fear.
I needed to know Father loved me no matter what.
He told me, "When I see you, I see me."
Father is holding a safe space for you…a space of love, grace and His presence.
Knowing that helps us get unstuck and pushes us past the fear in those moments.
2. What do you need to keep moving forward?
I need tools
That keeps me moving forward, like breathing through my fear. I can pull out the tools when fear comes and tries to stop me.
I need accountability
So I can do what I want to do for myself, like opening up the Courageous Club!
People who will hold me accountable to make sure I'm getting my plan done.
I need a guide who has been where I want to be.
I needed people like Lethia Owens and LaDawn Townsend.
People who are further along in their journey to help show me the way, the best routes, and the places to avoid.
These are people I can ask questions and get answers.
It saves me time and trouble.
3. What attitude or mindset do you need to succeed at achieving the goals that help you reach your dreams and your purpose?
I need grace
God's grace helps me pick myself up and keep going knowing I'm loved no matter what.
I need perspective
Andy Andrews helped me see, "I can't do everything, but I can do something." This keeps me from freezing because it reminds me I don't have to do it all. I can do something.
I need a positive attitude
Things started to change when I learned how powerful my thoughts were. I pulled out of a multiple-year depression. I began enjoying life more!
I need hope
Hope is a confident expectation.
Hebrews 11:1 talks about "faith being the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen."
I need a courageous mindset
Knowing I can generate the courage I need to do it afraid.
What do you need?
What do you need so you can get unstuck and keep moving?
What attitude or mindset do you need to adopt to achieve your dreams and fulfill your God-given purpose?
Maybe you need a guide that holds space for you and believes in you until you can believe in yourself.
Do you need a safe place so you can stop hiding, show up fully yourself and fulfill your God-given?
Do you need someone to hold you accountable to accomplish your goals so you can move forward toward your dreams?
Do you need a place where you're loved, supported and celebrated?
