Hey Moms - Did You Know You're Good Enough?

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s! I hope you’re having a day full of whatever it is that makes you feel special and loved.

I know for many of us moms, we have this something in the back of our mind that tells us we’re not enough. For many of us, this drives us to constant work. Work to show that we are super mom, work to show we can do it all. Work because we feel like no one else can do it as good as we can.

But, it only leaves us unfulfilled, tired and full of guilt and condemnation. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Our Heavenly Father desires us to rest. Rest in Him. Rest in His love for us. Rest in the fact that we are enough.

How can we be enough?

I know I’m far from perfect!

I can rest not because I’m good enough, but because He’s good enough. And because He’s good enough, He’s made me good enough.

I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. 1 John 2:12 NKJV

First off, you’re probably thinking, “what does forgiveness have to do with me feeling like I’m not enough.”

Let me ask you, “why do you feel like you’re not enough?”

If you’re feeling guilt and condemnation, then somewhere in your subconscious, you think you’ve been making mistakes.

If you feel like you’re making mistakes, then you’re letting a sin consciousness drive you. It’s what’s driving you to try and be “good enough.”

I want to relieve you of that guilty conscious. In order to do that, you need to understand you’re forgiven. You’re forgiven for all those mistakes you feel like you’re making (and those ones you know you’re making.).

God tells us here, we “are forgiven for His names sake.”

Now, “are forgiven” is in the perfect tense in the Greek, (For my word nerd friends – perfect, passive, indicative). This means that our forgiveness is a definite action completed in the past with continuing on going effect (From Grace Revolution pg. 57).

Meaning, we’re continually having forgiveness of sins.

I was terrible at grammar, but knowing the full meaning of something makes it come alive to us. So, I’m going to go one step further.

“Are Forgiven” is also using a passive voice.

Voice has to do with the relationship of a verb and its subject. In the active voice, the subject performs the action. In the passive voice, the subject is the recipient of the action.

Come back to me; I know you may be having flash backs to high school, hang with me here.

We’re the subject so that means we’re the subject who receives the action.

Our Heavenly Father is saying we’re forgiven. But not just forgiven once; we’re CONTINUALLY being forgiven.

We're not forgiven just because we did something to be forgiven, but because Jesus did the ACTION FOR US so we could RECEIVE this CONTINUAL FORGIVENESS.

Our part of God’s Forgiveness is the receiving part.

So today, receive this continual forgiveness.

Receive this cleansing from all we’ve not just done wrong, but just as important, receive this forgiveness for what we haven’t accomplished.

It’s a gift, just reach out and receive it, letting go of the mom guilt.

Today, rest in His love for us. Rest in His continual forgiveness that He provided.

He loves you more than you know!
