Podcast Episode 104 - How to uncover the hidden parts of yourself holding you back
/Have you tried to change but kept reverting to the same issues over and over again?
Do you find yourself resisting change but don't know why?
Do you know you're not being your best self and living your best life and aren't sure why?
We’re talking about Blindspots!
Today is for you:
If you're tired of going around the same mountain with the same issues.
If you're willing to do the work at the deepest level to create real change.
If you desire to be your best self so you can live your best life and fulfill your God-giving calling.
Our personality is a like a house of cards, delicately balancing our idealized self, defenses, blindspots and triggers to lean on and support ourselves.
As we awaken to our true selves, our blindspots, defenses and triggers crop up, trying to stop us from changing and keep that house of cards from falling.
If we don't deal with our blind spots, defenses and triggers, we stay trapped in our old patterns. Those old patterns harm us, others and our dreams.
Blindspots are the parts of our personality that we subconsciously choose to ignore. It's areas of avoidance.
We must be willing to work at our deepest fundamental level to create real, sustainable change. If not, change won't be lasting if we don't get to the root.
I'm going to share our blindspots through the lens of the Enneagram. You don't have to know the Enneagram to figure out your blindspots. Just pick the one or two that jump out to you to work on.

Next, I'll share that Enneagram types' blindspot–the unconscious area we're avoiding.
Then, I'll share each Enneagram types' trigger–the external event or situation that triggered a response in us and exposed our blindspot and hurt our idealized self-image.

Which one resonates with you? Which one makes you go, "Ugh… that's me?!"
That’s the one to start working on.
Admitting our blindspots can be hard…after all, we hid them for a reason.
Here are your first three steps to remove blindspots.
1. Objectively look at your patterns
When you're triggered, watch yourself in real-time and find the patterns.
2. Ask yourself, "What change to my self-image am I resisting?"
Dig to the root. Why are you afraid to change it?
3. Practice self-compassion
God gives you grace, so give it to yourself.
Don't think of uncovering and removing your blindspots like right or wrong and good or bad. It's about growing into your best self and releasing the parts of yourself that aren't serving you anymore.
