Your Story Isn’t Finished: God Is Still Forming You for Greater Things

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NASB)
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

Have you ever thought you’d finally “arrived,” only to realize life had another twist waiting? I know I have.

After twenty-five years of serving in churches, I stepped into my dream role as a pastor. It was everything I had been working toward. They prayed over me, handed me the certificate, and I thought, this is it.

And then, only a few months later, I was let go. Just like that, the dream was over. I didn’t just feel unemployed. I felt reset back to zero.

Have you been there too? That moment where everything you built seems to vanish and you wonder if you’ll ever get back on track?

What I couldn’t see in the moment was that Father wasn’t hitting the reset button. He was expanding me. That painful ending was actually the setup for the work I get to do now, coaching courageous women like you.

Truth #1: Glory is About Transformation, Not Arrival

We love the idea of “arriving.” I mean, who doesn’t want to feel like they’ve finally made it? But scripture tells us something different. Life in Christ isn’t static. It’s not about standing on one mountaintop forever. It’s about transformation.

Look at David. Long before he ever held a crown, he was fighting lions and bears to protect sheep. That wasn’t his arrival point. It was his training ground for Goliath. Father used one season to prepare him for the next.

Your brain works the same way. God designed it with neuroplasticity, the ability to rewire and grow through resistance. Just like your muscles get stronger after a workout, your mind builds new connections when you face hard things.

Resistance grows you.

Truth #2: Every Glory Builds on the Last—Even Failure

Philippians 1:6 reminds us: “He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Nothing is wasted. Every experience, whether victory or mistake, becomes material in Father’s hands for greater glory.

David’s triumph over Goliath put him on Israel’s radar, but even his greatest failure with Bathsheba became part of his transformation. Why? Because he returned to Father every time, quick to repent, quick to learn.

Our brains actually learn more from failure than success. Success feels great (cue confetti and cake 🎉). But failure rewires us deeply when we reflect and adjust.

I’ve had launches flop, relationships breakup (including a failed 1st marriage), and plans derail. Yet every one of those “failures” fertilized the soil for my future growth.

Failure isn’t wasted. It’s fertilizer for future glory.

Truth #3: All of Us Are Called Higher in Christ

This journey isn’t just for “those women,” the powerhouses with perfect confidence and polished success. It’s for you.

Romans 8:29 says we are all predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ.

Nobody’s left out.

Yes, comparison and self-doubt can light up your brain’s threat system, fight, flight, freeze, baby.

But when you root your identity in Christ, your nervous system shifts into rest and restore. That’s where your creativity flourishes, solutions appear, and resilience grows.

David wasn’t even invited into the lineup when Samuel came to anoint the next king. Overlooked by his father but chosen by his heavenly Father.

The same is true for you.

You don’t have to fight to qualify. Father already wrote the invitation, wired it into your DNA, and handed it to you in Christ.

Courageous Action: Journal Your Next Glory

Let’s not just talk about it. Let’s do it. Take time this week to journal these three prompts:

  1. What season am I in right now? Write honestly about what you’re walking through.

  2. Where has Father transformed me through victories and failures? You may not be where you want yet, but you’re not where you started.

  3. How is Father inviting me to step further instead of settling? Ask Him: what’s my next glory?

And here’s a pro tip—write it down. Don’t just think it. When words move from your head through your hand onto paper, your brain encodes it more deeply and your spirit grabs hold in a stronger way. Plus, you’ll have a record to look back on later and see just how far you’ve come.

You may not be where you want to be…yet, but you’ll see you’re not where you started. Cue some more cake and confetti! 🎉

Friend, You’re Not Starting Over

Whether you’re celebrating a win, wrestling with a failure, or struggling with being overlooked, the truth is the same. Father is moving you from glory to glory.

You are not starting over. You’re stepping further.

Sticky note for the week: Failure isn’t wasted. It’s fertilizer for future glory.
