/Is your life full of stress and overwhelm?
Or do you feel fulfilled and growing?
Or are you feeling bored or stagnant?
Where are you on that spectrum?
We're talking about stressing versus flourishing to feel fulfilled and fulfill our God-given purpose.
Today is for you:
If you want to avoid burnout.
If you want to prevent boredom and stagnation.
If you're ready to live a life of contribution and significance.
Life can be a mixed bag of stress and flourishing.
God has called us to live in a state of flourishing.
Flourishing is continually growing, developing, being fulfilled and making a contribution. It's showing up fully ourselves so we can fulfill our God given-purpose.
Now not all stress is bad. There is a good kind of stress that can push you to become your best self and keep you from rusting out and missing out.
Stress can also be harmful because it is exhausting and pushes you into burnout.
Here are three questions to ask yourself to see if you're flourishing or stressing and striving. It will also help you see if the stress you are experiencing is good for you or hurting you.
1. Am I flourishing or stressing?
Look at each area of your life and decide if you're flourishing or stressing.
Look at your finances, family, friends, career, environment, etc.
If you're flourishing, great! Keep it up!
If you're stressed, ask yourself question #2.
2. Is this stress good or bad?
Is that stress causing me to grow and push myself?
Or am I heading toward exhaustion and burnout?
Keep the good stress. Good stress pushes you to develop, grow and make a contribution.
If it's pushing you to overwhelm and you're not flourishing, you need to evaluate that stress so you can change it.
3. What do I need to do about that stress?
Do I need to let it go?
For instance, letting go of the need to control, be perfect or meet everyone else's needs before my own.
Do I need to keep it?
If it's a springboard to help me grow, keep it.
Do I need to push myself?
Maybe you're going through life easy peasy, and you're in danger of rusting out and stagnating.
You're missing out on being all God's called you to be in this state. You might need this stress to keep me pushing yourself. Create deadlines and priorities to help you grow and be your best self.
God has called us to flourish! We need to grow and develop into our best selves continually. When we live a life of contribution and fulfill our calling, not only does it bless others, it blesses us.
And when we're in a state of flourishing, we're also able to handle that bad stress better and keep that good stress so we can keep growing and pushing ourselves.
