Do you ever feel stuck in a rut? In life or your work or business?

Are you comfortable where you’re at? Like you stopped pushing yourself to grow or improve?

Yesterday I talked about consistency as a key to getting what you want. And it is. Slow and steady is how you’ll keep moving forward toward your dreams.

But sometimes, you have to shake things up. Sometimes, you must mix up the routine, push yourself out of your comfort zone, or energize your life.

Sometimes you have to…DSD – Do Something Different

I thrive in routine. I like to know what to expect. I enjoy creature comforts.

But that doesn’t always get me what I want in life.

I joined a local networking group and yesterday went to my first meeting by myself yesterday. I’ve been networking virtually but haven’t networked since the time I fainted before my first networking event years ago.

I had to DSD and push out of my comfort zone and meet new people.

Doing DSD doesn’t alway have to be about career or business.

You can DSD in your personal life too!

In my personal life, I needed to DSD my workout routine. I added new workout videos for weight/anaerobic training. I push my body out of my comfort zone, sculpt and build muscle as I’m getting older.


Signs You Need to DSD:

  • Stuck in a rut

  • Doing the same thing but not working–missing ingredient

  • Going through the motions

  • Lack of energy, life or enjoyment


What do you need to do differently?

Examples:

  • Start planning your week on Sundays or have a day where you do nothing on a schedule.

  • Networking - in-person or virtual

  • Create a routine or have a block of time to do whatever you want.

  • Take a course, buy a book, or hire a coach.

  • Change a belief that serves you better.

  • Put yourself out there - social media, podcast, blog, book, videos, etc.

  • Go out with friends or stay home.


Effects of DSD:

  • Get moving again

  • Create new solutions

  • Energize self

  • Grow yourself

Where do you need to DSD in your personal life?

Where do you need to DSD in your career or business?


One last thing…You can explore DSD without commitment. Test it out and see if it works. If not, DSD until you find what works.

You can also shake it up as you go. If DSD stops working down the road, mix it up with a new DSD.
