Fix the One Right Thing: How Courageous Women Find the Bottleneck
Have you ever stared at your bank account and thought, “Seriously… again?”
You’re doing all the “right” things.
Posting content.
Tweaking your offer.
Reworking your funnels.
Doing the mindset work.
Yet money still feels unpredictable, your audience isn’t really growing, and your business sits in the same stuck spot like it didn’t get the memo that you’re trying.
It’s so tempting in those moments to go into “fix everything” mode.
Change the niche.
Change the branding.
Change the prices.
Change your entire personality.
Change it all!!
Meanwhile, Father’s over here whispering something much simpler:
“Daughter, you don’t need to fix everything. You just need to fix the one right thing.”
🚀 “Houston, We Have a Bottleneck…”
In the movie Apollo 13, everything starts going wrong at once.
Alarms blaring. Oxygen dropping. Systems failing. It’s a full-on “everything is broken” moment.
Mission control in Houston could have tried to fix every single problem at the same time…and for a while they did try that.
But if they discovered, if they don’t solve one specific issue, none of the other problems would matter…
…Too much CO₂ in the cabin was going to kill the astronauts.
So Gene Kranz strolls in, my fav white-vest dude, dumps a box of random ship parts on the table, and basically says, “We’ve got to make this fit into this using nothing but this.”
Basically, the old square peg in a round hole issue.
They chose one bottleneck.
One mission.
One problem that had to move.
Once they fixed that, the astronauts could breathe again, and THEN they could tackle the NEXT problem.
That’s exactly how breakthrough works in your business.
It’s not by fixing ALL the things.
It’s by fixing the one RIGHT thing in the right sequence.
📖 Pressing Toward One Thing
Paul understood this single-focus approach long before NASA.
Philippians 3:13–14 (NASB)
“Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Paul didn’t chase everything. He didn’t try to fix every problem at once.
He had a clear assignment, and he pressed toward it…until he reached the prize.
That’s what finding the bottleneck does for you.
It aligns your courage with the same kind of focused obedience.
Instead of, “I have to fix everything in my business…” it becomes, “With Father, I’m fixing this one thing right now with You.”
Ready to breathe again?
Well, let’s walk through three courageous practices to help you find your bottleneck and fix the one right thing.
1. Name the Bottleneck
You can’t fix what you won’t name.
A bottleneck is the stuck spot where everything slows down or backs up.
It might look like:
Money feels unpredictable
No one is signing up for your offer
Content is going out, but engagement is low
Sales feel sporadic and random
Instead of spiraling into “Everything is broken” panic mode, ask:
“Where have I lost momentum?”
“What feels jammed, heavy, or slow?”
This is where you pause and invite Father in, not to shame you, but to give you wisdom.
James 1:5 (NASB), reminds us:
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
“Without reproach” means He isn’t rolling His eyes at you.
He’s not standing there with a heavenly fly swatter waiting to smack you for what you “should’ve known or done differently.”
He gladly shines a light on the bottleneck when you ask…aka wisdom.
So you slow down, breathe, and ask:
“Father, show me the real bottleneck in my business right now.”
Then you name it:
Money.
Offer.
Content.
Sales.
Pick one…and only one.
You’re not writing your whole autobiography here. You’re just identifying the log that’s jamming the river.
2. Ask, “What’s the Real Constraint?”
Once you name the bottleneck, it is time to go deeper.
Because “money is unpredictable” isn’t actually the real problem.
“People aren’t signing up for my offer” usually isn’t the real problem either.
Those are symptoms.
Behind every bottleneck is a constraint.
Two questions will help you uncover it:
1️⃣ What’s the one constraint holding me back in this area?
2️⃣ If I could change one thing that would free up everything else, what would it be?
Example:
Bottleneck: “Money is unpredictable.”
Real constraint: “I’m not having enough real conversations with real people.”
Or:
Bottleneck: “No one is signing up for my offer.”
Real constraint: “I don’t feel confident having sales conversations, so I avoid them.”
🧬 Brain insight:
Your brain loves simple, surface-level explanations because they feel safer.
“It’s just the algorithm” sounds easier than, “I’m terrified to be seen and heard, so I’m hiding in busywork.”
Ouch, been there, done that. Just me?
When you ask stronger questions, you nudge your brain out of “milkshake thinking” (to borrow Dr. Caroline Leaf’s term) and into focused problem-solving. You’re telling your mind, “We are safe. We are curious. Let’s find the real issue.”
That’s when clarity starts to rise (like the mummy, Imhotep.)
3. Fix That One Constraint (Until It Moves)
This is where so many of us bail.
We see the real constraint, feel slightly called out, and then run off to fix something easier.
Courageous women stay with it…
They fix the one constraint with Father until it moves.
If the constraint is “not enough conversations,” then your focus becomes:
Start conversations.
Keep conversations going.
Follow up on conversations.
Until revenue becomes more consistent.
If the constraint is “no confidence in sales conversations,” then your focus becomes:
Practice sales conversations.
Learn permission-based, human, non-sleazy selling.
Get comfortable saying your price without whispering, apologizing, or playing with your hair.
Until conversions increase.
This is the difference between a disco ball and a laser.
A disco ball takes one beam of light and scatters it into a thousand pretty sparkles.
Fun? Yes, if you’re at Great Skate.
Powerful? Not really.
A laser takes that same light and focuses it into a single powerful beam that can cut through steel and diamonds.
When you are trying to fix everything, you are the disco ball.
Sparkly. Busy. Exhausted. Not moving anything that truly matters.
When you commit to fixing one constraint with Father, you become the laser…Powerful in your purpose.
🧬 Brain insight:
Repeated, focused action around one skill literally rewires your brain. It builds stronger neural pathways for that behavior.
That’s why sticking with one constraint until it moves creates momentum that feels almost exponential.
🛠️ Courageous Action
Here’s your “fix the one right thing” lab for the week.
Name the Bottleneck.
Take 5–10 quiet minutes with Father. Ask, “Where have I lost momentum in my business?” Write down one bottleneck. Just one. Money, offers, content, sales, whatever it is.Find the Real Constraint.
Under that bottleneck, answer these two questions in writing:“What’s the one constraint holding me back in this area?”
“If I could change one thing that would free up everything else, what would it be?”
Be honest. No judgment. Just the truth.Choose One Courageous Action and Repeat It.
Turn that constraint into action. For example:
Real constraint: “I’m not having real conversations.”
Courageous action: “Start three real conversations a day, five days a week.”
Real constraint: “I’m afraid of sales conversations.”
Courageous action: “Schedule and practice at least two discovery calls a week.”
Then do that one action with Father, over and over, until something shifts.
Because courageous women do not spin in overwhelm…
…We fix the one right thing and watch momentum build step by step.

💬 Sound Bites
“Breakthrough doesn’t come from fixing everything. It comes from fixing the one right thing.”
“Father leads through focus, not frantic multitasking.”
“Money isn’t usually the problem. It’s a mirror of your conversations and courage.”
“When you fix the real constraint, your business finally starts to breathe again.”
🛠️ Courageous Action
This week, give yourself permission to stop fixing everything and focus your courage with Father. Start by slowing down long enough to notice where you’ve lost momentum. Sit with Father and ask Him to shine His light on one bottleneck — the single area in your business that feels jammed, heavy, or stuck.
Once you’ve named it, go a layer deeper. Ask:
1️⃣ “What’s the one constraint actually holding me back here?”
2️⃣ “If I could change one thing that would free up everything else, what would it be?”
Write down what He shows you. Then choose one courageous action that directly addresses that constraint — more conversations, practicing sales skills, clearer offers, consistent follow-up, whatever it is.
And here’s the important part:
Do that one action with Father, again and again, until something moves. Not perfectly. Not instantly. Just faithfully. This is how courageous women create real momentum.
