Do you dream of more?
Growing up, did someone else have a dream for you that wasn’t yours? College, career, family?
Do you have people you can lean on when times are tough?
We’re continuing our Disney Princess series. Today it’s Moana day! You’re welcome… Let’s talk about what Moana teaches us about our purpose.
Today is for you if…
If you desire a life of purpose.
If you’re tired of going it alone.
If you’re ready to step into your greatness.
From the time she was little, Moana was drawn to the water and didn’t know why. It was in her to be an explorer. But her family was scared of the water and stayed away at all costs. She wasn’t content to do the ordinary. Her heart said there was more, but everyone else said don’t try…except Grandma (the village crazy lady).
I Am Moana song (excerpt)
Sometimes the world seems against you
The journey may leave a scar
But scars can heal and reveal just
Where you are
The people you love will change you
The things you have learned will guide you
And nothing on Earth can silence
The quiet voice still inside you
And when that voice starts to whisper
Moana, you’ve come so far
Moana, listen
Do you know who you are?
I am Moana!
But when she tried to venture out, it backfired on her, and she became afraid to explore like everyone else until her island was dying, and she needed to save her people.
She couldn’t do it alone.
1. We All Have a Purpose
Called to the water, meant to restore the heart of Te Fiti.
“And the call isn’t out there at all, it’s inside me.”
Your purpose is inside you; you just need to let it out.
2. We All Have Courage
She restored the heart of Te Fiti by facing Te Ka, the scariest creature in the seas. But Te Ka turns out to be Te Fiti, and all the islands are brought back to life because of her courage.
You have courage inside you. You generate it by stepping out of your comfort zone.
3. We All Need Community
She couldn’t take the journey alone. She had a mentor, Maui, who literally showed her the ropes.
I prayed, and God brought me Lethia and the Women of Audacious Faith.
She brought her people together and helped them fulfill their purpose.
Homework:
What do you feel called to? What draws you in?
What step can you take today to move towards your purpose courageously?
Who can join you on your journey?
If you don’t know who specifically, write down what type of person or persons you need. Then pray and ask God to bring them across your path.
Do you need help discovering your purpose?
